How we check wallets

Last revised

A wallet page is only as good as its sources. This is how ours are built.

Sources

  • Specifications come from the manufacturer: product pages, technical documentation, support articles and the official shop. Where the maker does not publish a value, the cell says so instead of filling it from a reseller or a forum.
  • Prices are taken from the manufacturer's own shop on the date shown, in the currency the shop displayed. Prices change often; treat them as a snapshot.
  • Security history comes from the manufacturer's own disclosures and from published research, with dates. We describe what happened and what was fixed, without adjectives.

Every value is dated

Each specification carries the date we last opened its source. When a source changes, the value, the date and the changelog change together.

What the dataset holds today

These figures are counted from the dataset every time the site is built.

How complete the data is

Not every maker publishes every value. For each field, this is the number of devices with a value we could source; every other cell is marked as not verified rather than filled in.

Where the sources come from

The web domains cited most often, counted across specifications, prices, security events and device notes. A value counts once per domain it cites; "pages" is the number of distinct pages on that domain.

Documentation-led, and labelled as such

Unless a page says it was written from hands-on use, it is a documentation-led review: a careful reading of what the maker and independent researchers publish. That is useful for comparing features. It cannot tell you how a device feels in the hand, and we do not pretend it can.

How comparisons work

Comparison pages are generated from the same records as the wallet pages, then annotated in plain language. If two devices differ on a specification, the difference is highlighted; if a value is unknown for either device, it is shown as unknown, never as a difference.

Tools we use

Research is assisted by AI tools that collect sources and quotes, and page text is drafted with AI assistance from those sourced records. Every value that reaches a page has a source link you can open and check, and every page goes through a separate fact-check pass against those sources before it is published.
